Murry Files for State House

Morrisville Councilman Tom Murry files for District 41 Seat

MORRISVILLE, NC (February 8, 2010) – Morrisville Town Councilman Tom Murry was among the first to file on the opening day of the 2010 elections. A pharmacist and attorney, Murry previously announced his intention to run and has enlisted the backing of a host of local conservative Republican officials.

“After a decade of watching Democrats drive North Carolina to the brink of financial ruin, I can’t think of a time when our state needed proven conservative leadership to begin to reverse the billions in new taxes and debt and out-of-control spending that have been the hallmark of the liberals in Raleigh.

“It’s time to give Republicans the opportunity to turn our economy around, focus on creating jobs in the private sector, improve our business climate, lower taxes, set real spending priorities, and once-and-for-all clean up state government.

“Our fundraising and grassroots organizations are already underway with great success. I look forward to listening to the concerns of citizens in the 41st District, and talking with them about my record of service in Morrisville, and my solutions to the important issues facing our District and our State.”

Murry announced the support of several prominent local conservative Republican leaders including: Wake County Commission Chair Tony Gurley, Wake County School Board members Deborah Prickett and Chris Malone, and current State Representatives Marilyn Avila and Nelson Dollar.

Councilman Murry, 32, was first elected to the Morrisville Town Council in 2005 and was re-elected in 2009 with 77 percent of the vote. Murry is Morrisville’s delegate to the Triangle J Council of Governments, and has represented Morrisville on Wake County’s Growth Management Task Force.

Tom Murry is Executive Director of the Pharmacy Compounding Accreditation Board, a national non-profit focused on patient safety. Tom and his wife Tamara live in Morrisville with their two daughters. The Murrys attend College Park Baptist Church in Cary.

NC House District 41 in western Wake County encompasses portions of Raleigh, Cary, Apex and the Town of Morrisville.
